DDSS Tennis Facility Rules
-
Only Devereux Downs/State Street residents in good standing may reserve and have access to the tennis courts. Courts may be reserved online at www.reservemycourt.com
-
Proper tennis etiquette, tennis shoes, and appropriate clothing are required.
-
TENNIS IS THE ONLY ACTIVITY PERMITTED on the courts. No pets, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, radio-controlled cars, baby-strollers, baby-beds, etc. are allowed on the court surface.
-
Smoking is not permitted on the courts or on the tennis viewing stand.
-
No children under ten (10) years of age are allowed on the tennis courts unless under the direct supervision of their parent or guardian.
-
The gates must be kept closed at all times.
-
Recreational play time is limited (on both courts) as follows:
-
Courts are not to be used before 8:00am
-
The lights will go out at 11:00 PM nightly and players must vacate courts immediately. If players leave before the lights automatically turn off, they are asked to turn the lights off manually.
-
90 minutes for singles*
-
2 hours for doubles*
-
-
Both courts are available for reservations. No one may play during two consecutive reserved periods*. Thus, it is not allowed for a single group of players to sign up for consecutive time periods under different names and dominate the court time. However, he/she may accept an invitation to play doubles for a second period of play with members who are just beginning play.
-
Court reservations may be made one week in advance at www.reservemycourt.com. Each resident is limited to one reservation per 24 hour period.
-
If a reservation cannot be used, please remove your name from the reservation sheet as early as possible.
-
Failure to appear within 10 minutes of the start of the reservation time period forfeits the reserved period.
-
Reservations for out-of-town guests staying at a resident’s home must be made by the homeowner. One homeowner may not reserve both courts.
-
Tennis players are responsible for maintaining their area and removing their personal belongings, trash, etc., when they leave the court.
-
ALTA and USTA team matches always take priority over all recreational (non-league) play.
-
Recreational play is not permitted on an open court at the same time as a regularly scheduled Thurs/ Sat/Sun ALTA/USTA match (for example: an open court exists while Line 5 is playing, this court will remain idle until the scheduled match is concluded).
-
ALTA & USTA matches, and their team practices will be scheduled by Team Captains. Team Captains may reserve both courts, in advance, for the whole season – for matches and once-a-week practices. For team practices during off-season weeks, courts may only be reserved one week in advance and are limited to one 2-hour slot per week.
-
Non-team league organized matches (T2, Ultimate, etc) must sign up for available two hour time periods. If the match is not completed within the reserved two hours, the match has priority, and play may continue into the next time slot: except in the case of normally scheduled ALTA/USTA matches in their normal Thurs/Sat/Sun time slots.
-
League team Captains and Co-captains and Tennis Lesson Liaisons must be residents of Devereux Downs/State Street.
-
League team Captains and Organized Tennis Lesson Liaisons are responsible for:
-
Reserving all practice courts and match courts for the season
-
Providing a copy of any paid coach/instructor’s personal liability insurance certificate
-
Supplying roster of all players, with resident & non-resident status denoted, and signed waivers from all participants (both resident and non-resident) the first week of the season
-
Ensuring all non-resident fees are collected and submitted to the board the first week of the season
-
All coordination with the appropriate league (ALTA or USTA) regarding registration, rosters, scoring, etc.
-
-
Fees for non-resident players on a Devereux Downs/State Street team are as follows: Adults $35 per season; Juniors $20 per season. There is a calendar year max of $140 in fees.
-
Any suggestions or situations not addressed by these rules should be brought to the attention of the Tennis Committee. All rules are subject to periodic review and revision by the HOA Board as the need arises.
* If no one is waiting to play, the time limits do not apply. If however, people wishing to play appear during the "extra" time, those on the court must relinquish the court to new players.
